How to repair broken gas line

Last case, we learned how to locate the leaking spot in the gas lines, today we will share how to repair the broken gas line section.

Repair Process:

1.Excavation and Inspection:

• Following the marked leak detection location, the ground was excavated, and two breaks were found in the gas pipe, likely damaged during the installation of fence posts.

2.Pipe Replacement:

• The damaged gas pipe was cut off, a new section of pipe was replaced, and connections were remade using couplings.

3.Leak Test:

• Air was pumped back into the pipeline, tested, and no more leaks were found.

4.Inspection:

• The inspector came on-site, and the inspection passed.

 5.Backfilling:

• Backfilling, tamping, and restoring the ground to a flat surface were completed.

6.Restoring Gas Service:

• After passing the City’s inspection, we notified the gas company to reopen the main gas shutoff valve.
• The customer finally had hot water and heating again and could cook at home, very, very HAPPI.
